Jason "Jase" Takeya (Emcee/DJ)
Jase Takeya has been working in radio since 1999 starting off as an intern at
KWXX-FM. In 2000 he started doing weekends there. In 2006 he moved to Pacific
Radio Group where he did a weekend shift on KBIG and KAPA. He currently has a
show on Friday and Saturday nights on Da Beat. Jase learned the emcee trade by
hosting a variety of concert events and doing numerous night club emcee gigs at
various clubs on the east side of the Big Island. He also learned the mobile disco
trade by following around and learning from many different top mobile disco DJs to
various gigs.
"Part of being an emcee is being able to coordinate activities. You have to watch
the time and be able to put on a show and control the event, no matter how much info
is given to you. Sometimes people will give you very little information to work with or
have the event not very well organized. A good emcee is able to make the event run
smoothly and put on a good show no matter what you're given to work with. That's
how I think and that's what I strive for" - Jase
