Gig Log: CJs at the Poly Room

I’m finally getting a chance to blog about CJs a week after the event. What a great event it was! Mahalo going out to Pepe Romero once again for letting us be a part of this event. CJs at the Poly Room was the night club located in the Poly Room back in the 80s. It is brought back 2 - 3 times a year with 70s, 80s, and early 90s music thanks to Pepe. A night club atmosphere with live entertainment for the older crowd.

We teamed up with Pepe to do lighting at this event. Here is what we came up with.

CJs Room

We used red, orange, and blue colors to surround and light up the areas to the left and the right of the stage, ceiling, as the stage itself. It was to give the overall feeling of being fully surrounded by light in that venue. Here is a picture of the dance floor from on the stage.

Overall there was very good feedback on this event. Mahalo for Pepe for throwing another fantastic CJ’s at the Poly Room and allowing us to join in on the fun.

Looking Back at Dancing With The DJs

Dancing with the DJs happened this past Saturday and I have to say that I was blown away by the amazing job my coworkers at the radio station did with their dances under such pressure and nerves. I had to emcee the event and as Eclipse Effect Mobile Disco, I did the lighting. We were a sponsor of this event to help out the United Way. It was also my chance to test out the brand new American DJ Mega Par. This is a brand new lighting fixture that was released just last week. After seeing how well they work as a spotlight or uplighting in preview videos I had to get my hands on a bunch.

So I got a chance to put it to the test. Here is a picture of the area where the DJs entered from before the lighting set up.

Here are picture of the stage set up during the dance portion. We used uplighting on the wall and on the plants and also provided the disco lights.

The wall changed color to the beat of the music. The roof had a Revo 3 lighting fixture pointed at it which created a fireworks effect. It was a big challenge to figure out a good set up for 100% Moxie for this event. It was a 4 hour labor of love lighting set up, but at the end I was happy with the results and I’m always glad to help out the United Way for all they do for our community.

New H20 Light

The new American DJ H20 LED arrived and it’s an exciting part of our lighting we offer at Eclipse Effect Mobile Disco.

Here is a video of it.

This would look great at weddings or proms because of the peaceful and calming effect it produces. It will be included in most of our wedding packages as part of our lighting. We’ll have it available depending on how well can design the room with this. I can’t wait to test this out at the next wedding reception.

Testing out the new Uplighting

This weekend I decided to test out the new uplighting pars. At gigs I’ll be using the brand new RGBW Microwash LED from American DJ. This is an amazing light that was released earlier this summer. I love these new LED lights because they generate very little heat, so no sweating being near the lights, and they last for what seems like forever. Also it doesn’t have that burning smell that the older up lights sometimes have when they are new. This uplight also does not flicker in videos so it’s perfect for weddings. This thing is also super small. Look at it compared to a water bottle.

With the light being this small, it allows me to set up faster and transport it easier. I tested it at my grandma’s house this past weekend. It can light up a variety of different colors like magenta, green, cyan, etc. I lit up the outside of her house with her favorite color…red.

What an amazing job such little lights did. Overall I am amazed by these lights and do have them available for gigs.

Added the Revo 4 to our light set.

I wanted to add this light to our light set for a long time because of how different and amazing it looks. We finally got it available for parties. Here’s a video of the Revo 4.
